Why Substack?
For the past few years, I have been using Blogger to occasionally write some personal blogs. Over time, however, I transitioned to mainly writing articles for my column on The Tech, MIT’s student newspaper. While I enjoy writing personal essays for The Tech’s Campus Life section, one restriction I have is that I have to write in a more formal tone. Sometimes, I want to write things that aren’t appropriate for a newspaper, or write something that has a more casual voice. This format is the benefit of blogs.
Sure, I have my Blogger website, but the idea of using another website like Substack sounded more appealing. I wouldn’t say Blogger is dead, but it feels kind of outdated nowadays as I see more and more people using Medium or Substack for personal blogs. I noticed that quite a few of my college peers have Substack, but never got around making an account until today.
I don’t know how often I will use Substack, but if I have something I really want to write, I will do it here. I estimate using this website once a month, or every other month.
On an unrelated note, I really like this interface! It’s quite user-friendly and the simple layout is aesthetically pleasing. I know this blog post is short, but I don’t feel like writing a lot today. Maybe for another time.
